The first steady hand.
Our story
A craft passed down.
A new chapter in Tallinn.
Northline was founded by Alex Carter, a fourth-generation barber who brought family training and years of backstage grooming experience to Tallinn.
Four generations
The craft began long before Northline.
Alex started by folding towels and sweeping the floor in his father’s shop in Manchester when he was thirteen. Barbering had already passed through three generations of the Carter family, along with the habit of checking a cut from every angle before calling it finished.
Tradition refined.
Discipline passed on.
A new expression of the craft.

Behind the camera
Precision shaped under the spotlight.
After training in Manchester, Alex spent several years in London preparing actors, musicians, and television guests for shoots, interviews, and public appearances. Studio lighting made small mistakes impossible to hide and taught him to think about how a cut looks from every side.
Style should not exist only for the camera. It should live on the streets.
A new chapter
From the studio to the streets of Tallinn.
Alex moved to Tallinn in 2022 after several visits to Estonia. He liked the smaller scale of the city, the mix of old streets and modern design, and the straightforward way people approached personal style.
Northline opened in 2024. Today, Alex works with a local team that follows the same basic routine: listen first, understand the shape, explain the plan, and leave enough time for the finish.
